I'm sticking to my "Boston doesn't get past the second round" statement. I mean, how the hell do you lose 3 games to Atl-8-games-under-mediocrity-ta

New Orleans just looks solid. That is in large part due to their freaking awesome pg. Shoulda been MVP, but I can't argue too much with Kobe. He's playing awesome as well.

Orlando is an easy team to beat. Simply stop Howard from dunking, and you win.

If Utah couldn't handle Houston's bench, how are they gonna beat Kobe and Co?

2nd round adjustments predictions huh? I'm in. I still think boston's got the king but it sure looks like they're going down in flames in the ECF to Deeetrooit Basketbaaaall. You think LeBron can win a game 7 in Boston? Wow. I can't call it a huge longshot though. With the clovers looking more like shrinking violets on the road, how can I take the choking-3 if it's close and LeBron can smell the fear on them? The biggest X-factor in this series: James Posey. That dude is cold blooded. He's a terrific defender (nobody can stop LBJ but keep him to 30-7-7 and count yourself victorious) and drains 3's in the clutch over and over. I saw and interview with the 3 and KG & Pierce both emphatically said that a game winning shot should be taken by Ray Allen. Bull Shit. I'll take a pick and roll with Cassell and Powe with another pick to free Posey as your #1 option ANY day of the week over allen/pierce/KG. You could probably use some of those guys as great decoys though.

I know it seems like I'm hatin' on New Orleans but I still gotta take San Antonio. Byron Scott is a terrific leader and is much better at making strategic manuevers/adjustments than I'd previously given him credit for. But... is he better than Pop? Are the Spurs just too old to keep up with the young guns? I'm still pulling hard for NOLA (I never hated Bruce Bowen as much as I did during the last game) and think they've definitely got a chance but I just can't bet against the Spurs. I'll take'm in 6 (though if it goes 7, I think SA can/will win in New Orleans). Also, with Ginobili having knee problems, it certainly has to be a concern for Spurs Nation.

SA in 6
LAL in 7

DET in 5
BOS in 7

As a complete aside, I heard Hubie mention his old Memphis team... what if they'd kept the core of this team together, added one or two free agents, and Hubie was 135 years younger?

Pau Gasol
Shane Battier
James Posey

notables (bench guys really):
Earl Watson
Stromile Swift
Mike Miller
Bonzi Wells

I feel like i must be retarded going against SAS for a 2nd round in a row. My logic says SAS, but my gut says NOH. I'm feel like West, Cp, and Tyson is a bigger 3 than Parker, Duncan, Manu.

And like I've said, CP3 is a cold-blooded killer. It is gonna take another cold-blooded killer(i.e. Kobe) to knock him out,

Whoops, I forgot to do the 3rd round and finals

NO vs LAL
-- LAL in 7

DET vs CLE
-- DET in 6

Finals

LAL vs DET
-- LAL in 5

Guess i haven't predicted BOS-CLE yet. Mmmmmmm, i don't know, Boston in 7 i suppose. Since they got home court.

Boston is good at blowing teams out, but they don't seem so hot in close games. So i'll say BOS in 4 blow-outs, and CLE in 3 close games, hehe.

DET would have to really be in a slump to lose to LAL in 5 games.

HA! I knew you'd love that one Tom.

So Patrick - even though Bynum is out, you're sticking w/ L.A.? I thought you were backing out of that one?

Timmy's like the Teddy Bear murderer. You never see him coming cuz he smothers you in your sleep. If you think he's going to be content with letting David West go bonkers while he was held to his career playoff low for points... well, lemme just say "game 2... 35 and 15".

dullstone said...

Timmy my be able to murder teddy bears, but can he murder Chucky? (could't help myself on that one)

35 and 15 wouldn't surprise me. I don't doubt the spurs as much as I my seem. I just find myself barely favoring the hornets. In my defense, i picked SAS every previous year (to go the finals) :)

I hope you're right, I'd rather see New Orleans win.

Well... now that I think about it, my heart wants NOLA to succeed but I don't know who I'd rather the Lakers square off against. Either way I guess our biggest weakness is at point and that's a pick-your-poison scenario with these two teams. Fish is a little slow and Farmar/Vujacic aren't real solid defensively (commonly in foul trouble against better PGs because they pick up stupid tick-tack fouls). Where the hell did that term come from anyway?? Is it a diss on the candy? Someone trying to say they're insignificant candies because of their diminutive size?

Patrick said...

Oh, yea...well, its tough. I did do that prediction with Bynum in mind. However, I think it will be a really close series and Laker's home court calls will win.

I really do believe in ref conspiracy, and I am damn sure the league would rather see the Lakers in the finals...especially if Boston is on the other side.

You're right Tom. I forgot that the finals is 2-3-2.

I'll revise that

Finals

Lakers in 6

I always hear it as "ticky-tack" follow. I decided to check it out in my awesome dictionary, which amazingly, was already opened to the right page (out of over 2000 pages).

Niether is there, just ticky-tacky, which doesn't look to be related.
========

Lakers in 6 you say? I can live with that.

dullstone said...

err...."foul," not "follow."

Btw, i hope the 2nd round is more exciting than the first round.

Maybe i am still expecting too much as a result of the playoffs two years ago. When it seemed like every single game was decided in overtime.

so i just got back from mexico, didnt see any games for a week.
tonight, watched the SAS NOH game 3 and heard about timmy catching the plague for game 1 and manu's legs giving out on him.
and after watching it, i still dunno. i picked spurs to win out in 6 games per series before this, and i think i'm gonna practice my stick-to-it-iveness.
spurs in 6
spurs in 6
spurs in 6

NOH is damn good and i wouldn't be surprised if they went 7 (or beat the spurs, and in turn, everyone else)

LAL is damn good too, but with 2 teams (SAS, NOH) in the west that i feel are stronger, i can't pick em. i do think they can take my precious Jazz, but i think it'll take 7, no road wins

EAST
there's no way LBJ can beat the celtics with a worse team than last year's cavs. det burns up ORL and bos in 6 each, then loses to SAS/NOH in 5

dullstone said...

Ahhhh, mexico. No wonder its been so quiet. !Bienvenido de regreso!

I know everyone thinks LAL is really good. But still i get the feeling people kinda sleeping on them a bit. There chance of taking it all seems as good as anyone's to me.
