Power Rankings-Utah, etc.

http://www.nba.com/powerrankings/

I had been trying to make quality posts. But since no one ever posts, i was thinking, i should jsut post whatever, anything i feel like yakking about. And so shoudl y'all.

I been digging the Jazz last couple years. They are kinda my team in the west atm. Anyway, what is up with them lately. They are suddenly losing to everyone. I'm pretty sure a couple weeks ago they were ranked like 3 or 5 in the rankings. Now they are 13th. I haven't seen many of their games, so i don't know what their deal is. Anyone else kinda a Jazz fan? Anyone know why they are on a two week suck streak?

Portland in the mean time, is crushing everyone. They went from like 28th a couple weeks ago (i think, i can't find old power rankings, though. i'm sure i found them last year) to 14th. If i have more time, i'd post a tight picture of Drexler and C. Robinson here:)

Miami has to go 35-24 rest of the way to have a .500 average. Which would probably enough for 7 seed really. But nothing seems to be improving there. I know Wade is prob not 100% after his injury, but i am jsut not seeing the D Wade from a couple of years ago. I don't know if yous watched the Eastern semis couple years ago. But when Heat beat Detroit, Wade's performace was the most dominating i have seen since then. He was like Jordan that series. He could get anything he wanted. I got to the point where you i would yell "No!" if Wade was shooting a contested fadeaway 25-footer, cause i knew even those were gonna go in. So Wade needs to be Wade; i think that would help grandpa Shaq be Shaq.

so, anyother power ranking thoughts?

ps. Pistons are 3 now! Been a nice steady climb. We were like 12th a month ago.

i like utah a lot. i think the boozer/williams thing could really take off if the rest of these assholes can get their act together. i think that's part of it anyhow.
i mean, when UTA lost to SAS the other day (SAS didn't have tony OR timmy), Boozer had like 30 pts and 17 rebs. Williams had like 25 pts and 10 rebs. everyone else sucked. now granted, the guys that were supposed to be guarding them were absent, but still... tony historically isn't the best defender anyhow and boozer historically gets his no matter who guards him.
also, i think this has been a really tough stretch of their schedule.
as you noted, portland has been killing everyone, and i think it's worth mentioning that 2 of utah's losses in these last few weeks have been to portland (in both of those games D williams has performed below avg. perhaps this is due to portland's brewer, who i hear is an excellent defender, but i haven't gotten to watch much) and 3 losses have been @SAS, @DAL, and @ PHX.
i mean, damn.
i think only houston can boast such a tough stretch this early.
in all those 3 games, UTA performed pretty well, but there was just too much to overcome:

in SA, the mile deep bench took over and manu led them to a great victory. the way they were playing that night, i don't think anyone could have stopped em, even though timmy and tony were absent.

in DAL, josh howard had what may have been the best game of his career, and as we all know from last year, when josh howard shows up, DAL is tough as heck to beat.

in PHX, Matrix blew up with one of his best games this season, and it's not like PHX is easy to beat on a normal day anyhow.

i dunno man. i like UTA a lot, but they have a lot of work to do if they wanna do any real damage.
as patrick pointed out last year, when you watch UTA, you can tell that they are coached well. they work together as a team more effectively than most, which i think gives them a great shot come playoff time. but heck, if they can't even beat SA minus their (arguably) 2 best players, maybe i should get off the bandwagon early. i'm inclined to agree with bill simmons and just take the easy and obvious bet: SAS

on a lighter note, i guess now that UTA is doing poorly, at least i can get away with calling them a dark horse...right?
