Tom's dream trade.

Rip Hamilton’s a name oft-mentioned as being on the block. Should the Pistons offer a package including Hamilton and its first round pick for Mac, the Rockets would be enticed to accept."

TMac for Rip? Tom would love that.

oh man that would be the last straw for old tommy. not only would the rockets crush everyone until the inevitable annual Ow Ming injury, but the pistons would somehow get EVEN CRAPPIER.

rip's a good guy, why would they trade him for an invalid?

for the cap space

Rip is like the only piston that has really always been consistent. I would cry. I think the pistons are more interested in trading Prince (as far as though two are concerned).

ohhhhh.
right.

id rather have prince, but both of those guys are worlds better than breaky.

can you imagine if the rockets had prince alongside shane and ron? best. defense. ever.

Wow… that seems like a pretty good deal for both teams. I’d read that T-Mac was being shopped around but hadn’t heard any takers at that time (& couldn’t imagine who would pay for him unless Isiah got a job in a hurry). I forgot that his contract comes off the books next year though – just in time for the auction.

(Here’s a list I found BTW: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=freeagents-09-10)

I’d take Prince over Rip too; if they’re both available the only real justification I could see from the Rocket’s end is position (that would make 3 small forwards)…. I still do it. They’d be similar to the Magic but with better perimeter D (& a little less post D but better O schemes).

My question is whether Houston believes they have any real shot at drawing a people in free agency? With Yao & Adelman, it may be worth keeping T-Mac so they have the cap space themselves right?? Even if you assume the biggest names are untouchable (LBJ, DWade, Joe Johnson, etc.) – what about getting (2) slightly less than superstar caliber? For that cash, they’d surely have a shot at say… Raja Bell & Travis Outlaw!! How’s about that for defense? That would easily rival the Lakers for Length… though they’d still be without a true Power Forward. Bosh & Salmons may be able to be had depending on how they play this year. Two vets that have proven they still have a little in the tank are Camby & Brad Miller. They’ve got to weigh the options against he odds of getting who they’d like. If you get better by trading, you’ve got to consider it but if you think you can do good w/ the money yourself, why not keep it? I guess the Rockets may be thinking win now where the Pistons are in retooling mode so another down season wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing for them.

I like the idea of holding on to him, getting the cap space in '10 and grabbing joe johnson.
