Finals

I'll get this ball rollin' with the question i been thinking the last couple days.

Seems like everyday, reports are a little more favorable for Jameer Nelson returning in the Finals.
Is that a good idea? Seems risky.

I doubt they would start him off as a starter. But still, they been on such a good run, couldn't reinserting Nelson upset chemistry? He hasn't played since feb. 2, over 4 months!

Oh, and predictions. I'll say lakers in 7.

I do wonder if LA will come out half-stride again. La plans on not doubling, magic. If they can do that they should win. Even Detroit beats magic, just cause they are able to single Howard. R Wallace is getting bad a lot things these days. But, Howard is susceptible to stripping, and Wallace is one of the best at stripping posts. He gets him all the time.

Nelson coming back could be the difference maker. The Lakers main weakness is their point guard. If he comes back and has an impact, I would say Orlando just got the edge. However, Howard will not have the success he had against the Least. That will take away their wide open 3pt shots.

So, I'll take Lakers in 7 cause I don't think Nelson can be that great after sitting out so long. But, if he has even one 20 point game, I'll take the Magic in 7.

jameer is too much of a wildcard for me. he's really good, but you guys voice valid concerns-
could he upset the chemistry that got them this far?
how good can he play after sitting for 4 months?

note:
orl won both games in the reg season, both with jameer nelson playing full minutes. in both games, jameer and dwight both had great games. (in one, dwight had 25 and 20!)

in both games, kobe had fantastic games and pau did not. in one game, fisher had a great game (same line as jameer pretty much) but in the other one, fish did only so-so

i heard jameer make a decent point. He said, it is not like they would have to change up the offensive sets. The do the same thing with both guards, jsut Nelson is(was) a better shooter. The way the play, he mainly jsut has to get the ball to dwight and spot up for three, penetrate occasionally.

So maybe, like Jameer says, it wouldn't really do anything to chemistry. If that's true, the question is how good can a guy be playing Fianls lv basketball after 4 months of not playing.

if they play him, i'm sure it will be for 18-22 minutes (at first). Unless he is playing very well.

why the hell would they schedule NBA and NHL finals on the same day, at the same hour. Pretty retarded.

thats very dumb. they did the same thing to us while we were in mexico. we went to the bar to watch the lakers smash the rockets, and they were playing hockey playoffs on the big screen instead of nba. wtf? so dumb

that first game: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Did i ever say my extra foul idea?

Before the game, you should be able to assign one extra foul to one player on your team. Has a shooting guard, ever, fouled out of a game?

obviously, This rule would help bigs the most. But other teams might also give it to their pg, or best player.

I always find it a little annoying when so much of a game is dictated by foul trouble. I am just talking generally; i know LAL would have destroyed last night anyway.

I can only think of one game this playoffs where Howard didn't get two early fouls. And i know, he always has 2-3 dumb fouls, but that is beside my point:)

I like that extra foul idea. I also liked JVG's idea of just not fouling players out. It's a double penalty. You already get to shoot free-throws when a foul is committed, why throw the guy out of the game. Unless it's a flagrant 2 or something. Besides, fans paid money to see the best players play. Not just the ones that stayed out of foul trouble.

They should at least give you an extra foul for each overtime. I hate when a game goes double or triple overtime and it could be a classic game except like 2-3 guys from each team have fouled out. It's not even the same teams playing anymore!

Oh yeah, NBA and NHL on the same night is retarded. But what do you expect? We've already established that the NBA can't make a schedule. Game 1 - Thurs, Game 2 - Sun?! Why not have game one on Thurs, game 2 on Fri and game 3 on Sun? And why are the games on so freaking late? I know it's because they want the Lakers fans to be able to watch but starting the Orlando games at 9pm? If I lived in Orlando I would be pissed. I have to stay up until at least 11:30pm on a week night to see my team try to win their first NBA finals? Just so Lakers fans can watch at the optimum time? Does the entire world revolve around LA? It seems like it sometimes.

I think everyone can agree that the NBA has turned into a business first fans last entity. They obviously don't care what real fans care about and make all of their decisions with money first on their mind. They're lucky that LeBron, D-Wade and Dwight are in the league now because without those three interesting players I think they maybe would be failing and losing money. I know several teams lost millions this last year. It should be all of them, maybe that would be a wake-up call that they actually have to provide a entertaining product for their fans instead of just make a bunch of money off suckers that will pay $150 for a first level ticket at a game.

Peace, I'm out!

Yeah, that one drives me crazy too.

And you right about 3 games in 4 days. If hockey players can do it(which they did, for games 1,2, and 3.) in their full contact sport, basketball players can do it.

It would be funny if those guys all went and played for euro leugue. Or even better, middle east league.

Why did they play Reddick so much in the 4th and overtime? They didnt have nelson or Alston playing the 4th. Not until Turk started getting tired having the ball constantly.

I know he's a "shooter" and spreads the floor (in theory). But, han't he been cold for like several years now? Since college?

I am not saying he was bad, though i don't think he was that helpful. I'm just saying the coaching decision surprised me.

Looks like SVG read the blog (not that that surprises us). JJ reddic, i don't think played one minute this game. He especially didn't play through the whole finish.

"suckers that will pay $150 for a first level ticket at a game."

When i went to the finals in SA, i tried to get tickets as soon as they were available. Had to go through a third party and spent $500 on two UPPER lv tickets. Talk about a sucker.

Though if wallace didn't leave Horry open at the end of game 5. That pistons win i saw in game 6 could have been the clincher.

yo dullstone, magic is just not smart enough.

what the heck is nelson thinking trying to prevent the dribble drive with five seconds left in the game, up by 3.

Between that boneheaded play and all the missed freethrows, this was hard to watch.

Magic certainly had every chance to win, horrible execution down the stretch though (i'm am ignoring the horrible third period, cause they should have still won despite that).

ALso, when Kobe hit Nelson in the neck on the overtime go ahead play- yeah, Nelson was fouled, but it looked to me like the reason he fell was he was trying to get the call. If he just worried about the refs doing their job, and him doing his, he could have stayed on his feet, and ran out at Fischer so he wouldn't have been wide open.

Maybe bringing nelson back was a bad idea. Seems like he struggles when he has only moment to make a decision. The two huge baskets LA/Fischer had were both because of blown coverage by Nelson.

bummer.

Holy Shit-Balls!

"The numbers are staggering, and Lewis knows it. He made $16.4 million this season, and his numbers over the next four seasons increase to $18 million, $19.6 million, $21.1 million and finally $22.7 million in the 2012-13 season. He's scheduled to make roughly $3 million more in each season than Dwight Howard, the former No. 1 pick and the face of the franchise."

I've actually enjoyed the Finals thus far though I think the Magic have really blown a few chances. I guess the 'experience' thing helps a little (though Ariza doesn't have much & he's playing awesome).

I wish Courtney Lee had made the layup at the end of Game 2; I would love to see a game 7 (so long as the Lakers win it).

i enjoyed it too (first game was kinda boring), 3 games in a row down to the wire. I was just frustrated at some boneheadedness last game.

And Dwight has actually been sinking his 4th quarter free throws very well, until last game. Even turk missed a bunch of frees in the 4th.

That lee shot would be soooo awesome. I think it was harder than it looked. Cause he had to pull the ball back from under the backboard.
