Denver Sucks

Man, I was watching Denver-Celtics last night, and my word Denver sucks. Not only that, but their players have terrible attitudes.

Players on there that I hate:

Kenyon Martin
Carmelo Anthony
Birdman

Kenyon actually shoved Ray Allen into the bleachers. Of course, this was after the refs called 5 straight charges on the nuggets.

Anyways, their defense is terrible, and their offense consists of giving kenyon martin the ball and him handing it off to melo while setting a pick. Swear to god, thats all they did all night.

If they get out of the first round, i'll bite the head off of a snake.

if you would have told me in december that i would be rooting for Denver to get out of the 1st round this year, i would not have believed you.

Go Nuggets!

no, you're right they're terrible. there's no WAY you're biting the head off a snake for THIS!

Chauncey is awesome though;P

DEN almost lost to ATL and ATL was missing Josh Smith and Mike Bibby.

DEN took shasher's advice and it worked! they let chauncey take a little bit of control and find some options other than kmart/melo high screen(although during the first Q all they ran was the high screen and ATL was beating them;)
i think george karl is reading our blog.

but seriously whats up with george karl? nice guys finish last or what? he always seems so cool and positive, but his team really sucks.

Denver was handling them pretty well. But let them close like a 9-10 point gap in the final minute or two.

Chauncey's stats in that game remind me of the point i made last year. He isn't the strongest shooter, but his scoring efficiency is good. He went 7-18, only 39%. But with freethrows and a couple 3s he got 33 points. That's 1.889 points per shot And Of course, he is invaluable in other ways, Like oh, i don't know, keeping a teams team defense organized and smooth. (i never thought switching one player for a first ballot HOF could cause such a drastic collapse in defense. I know AI does not have a defensive rep, but for it to effect the entire team D so much is amazing.)

And i have successfully made this Denver thread a Detroit thread. Glad to see i still got it:P

Denver looks like they can hang onto that northwest conference. So they would probably play portland, NO, dallas, or utah. I think Denver has a fair chance against a couple of those.

...i thought AI was known for his defense..? doesnt he always get a buncha steals and more rebounds than pretty much anyone else his size (he's like 5'10 right?)? i never really thought about it, but it's always seemed to me that AI was way more defensive minded than Chauncey (and most small guards, really). is that not accurate?

i havent watched enough Denver to know-did Chauncey make those clowns start playing D? is he known for being a great defender? i always thought of him as more of an offensive weapon than a defensive one, but tom you certainly know more about chauncey than i do. is it just his leadership and maturity or something?

i shoulda looked before, but i didnt.
(career stats)
AI-3.7reb/gm, 2.2 stls/gm
CB-2.9reb/gm, 1 stl/gm

i know those arent the only thing that matters when you're talking D, but..still...

AI is oft criticized for those steals actually. He gambles so much in that passing lane, that if he misses the ball, he is out of position and someone else runs up to guard his man cause it is effectively a 5 on 4 at that point. So defenders are all switching and someone gets open. Also, guards just tend to penetrate pretty easily against AI.

Chauncey has been all-defense 2nd team twice (though not in the last two years, which surprises me, cause he has gotten better.) AS for your question about leadership: yes. Chauncey really will hold everybody responsible for D. He has tremendous pride on that account. If you listen to sounds bites concerning Denver and pistons this year, you will hear the same thing. George Karl has, as well, commented a fair amount on the defensive mindset Chauncey has brought.

Last nights game is actually a good example. The nuggets with AI, would never have played such a solid defensive game against the lakers. When AI was in denver, the nuggets were constantly criticized for basically playing zero defense. (keep in mind i am a huge iverson fan, so i am not hating:D)

alright time to stop myself, i could sing the praises of mr. bigshot all night long:D

one more thing, yeah denver has had some games with bad defense this season. but, it is definitely greatly improved. And in those bad performances both Karl and Chauncey are publicly, like, "what the hell?" to the rest of the team. (btw, last night chauncey was +9, and the rest of the starters were negative:D)

one more btw. Jordan said that Joe Dumars was the best defender he ever faced. Dumars career average in steals was one a game. It is better to stick to your man for an entire game than it is to get two steals in an entire game:)
