I did not think it was fair last year when PHX lost two guys for a game because they put, like, one foot on the floor after Horry hipchecked Nash. But taht was the rule at the time so i thought, "well, they gotta do it i guess, but they shoudl change that rule of the off season."
The rule was not changed, as far as i know.
Then, in the last BOS-ATL game, there was a a mini skirmish started with Garnett and Zaza. Each team had a guy take a step on the floor, and nothing was done about it. I think they need to officially decide what they are gonna do in that situation. They can't sometimes enforce rule, and others let it slide.
Personally, i think they should basically toss that rule and make judgements on a case by case basis. All 4 people (the two from PHX and the two from that last game) did not really go toward the action, they just kinda took a step from their bench, which is something that actually happenes all the time for various reasons.
But if i was PHX, i would kinda be pissed they got totally screwed by that rule, and then the next guys to do it, were completely let off.

One more thing, two guys (Deshawn Stevenson and i forget who else) were fined for what, i think, were called "menacing gestures."
Did anyone see these menacing gestures? I am really curious to know exactly what was done. Just cause i want to know what the heck "menacing Gestures" means.
So if you know what they were, describe for me the gestures in question:D

the other one was paul pierce, and i thought it was silly to fine him.
basically, he got schooled by horford, and then horford ran by him (while pierce was still on the ground picking up his jock) and hollered some shit and pointed his finger emphatically while he ran to the other end. so pierce got up and started walking slowly to the bench where horford went, the whole time shaking one hand in an "A-OK" sign (you know, circle with the pointer/thumb and 3 fingers sticking out) like people do when they start to heat up from 3pt range. then somebody from the Cs bench came and directed pierce back to his bench.
i didnt see what the big deal was. to me, it looked like horford's gestures were more menacing. he certainly was more energetic about it.
of course, maybe pierce did something after the camera was off him... i dunno.
also, i couldn't agree more about that rule. PHX got Fd last year for the EXACT same infraction, and if i was them i would be outraged.
what's more, i think KG should be suspended for that shit. he initiated the contact, and when the ref tried to pull him away, he shoved the ref, and not lightly.
i thought it didn't matter what sport - IF YOU SHOVE A REF, YOU'RE OUT (for AT LEAST a game). right!? is KG above the law? seems pretty dumb to me. i'd suspend his ass for sure, and i'm pretty sure if anyone else on any other team did that, they would get tossed. i'm interested to hear what you guys think about this, as i feel very strongly about it.
and in closing, i didnt know who the heck pachulia (sp?) was before that skirmish, but now he's pretty much my favorite player. not sure if all you guys saw this, but it was AWESOME. as soon as KG shoved patchouullieah he got crazy eyes and walked right up to KG and started talking shit with his forehead pressing against KGs face. it was one of the most bad ass thing i've seen so far this playoffs. i mean, thats KG, and who the F is pashoodeeya?
it seriously looked like he was insane, and for some reason that made me LOVE the guy. LOVE IT. i cant wait for this game tonight, but i REALLY cant wait for the next game in ATL. what a great crowd.
one last thing-
HEY TOM! SLOW THE HELL DOWN!
its impossible to keep up with you if you're going to treat this blog like a full time job!
just kidding, i'm loving all the action on the blog lately. great posts guys!
The NBA has not only the worst refs but the most inconsistent. Perhaps that is what makes them the worst.
Several examples other than what Tom described include:
1. Star treatment. Certain players get more calls than others for the same shit. What's up with that?
2. You'll see a foul called one minute and then not the next for the EXACT same thing. Huh? How are the players supposed to react to that? There's a reason that players constantly argue with the refs because they can't figure out what the hell a foul is.
3. Situational calls. Patrick brought this up. In certain situations something is a foul but not in others. Like you can get really physical down low positioning for a rebound. But if a guy had the ball you couldn't do half that stuff without getting called for a foul.
Furthermore, did you guys see that flagarant against Horford on Garnett? Worst fucking call ever. The dumbass announcer said "if you ever go above the shoulders its a flagarant"
THEN
later in the game Allen full-hand slaps Horford in the head and was it a flagarant?! No, it was a technical foul against the Hawk's coach
Worst ever team favorite call combo i have ever been a witness to.
And Jake, I agree with the Garnett suspension.
I loved that Pachulia got in his face too. It was great...Garnett(and I love that guy) didn't know what was going on.
"Who is this guy? Is he actually in my face."
It took him a second to get mad, and thats when he shoved the ref.
Haha, i swear i post really fast:) I was on this sight for a total of 30 minutes last night:) i know cause i was keeping track of the time since the CLE-WAS game was about to start. That is pretty much my norm lately, except for that one day were i was on a ton argueing about D Howard. I usually watch the game from the previous night the next day, and then post afterwards.
==============
Yeah, refs should be a complete untouchable.
==============
I was gonna post on that exact same non-flagrant on Allen, Patrick. It wasn't too hard to notice, since that slap to the face included the eye, and horford was pretty shaken up.
============
Zaza Pachlula was on my roster for the "All-funny name" team i posted just b4 the playoffs started:)

I think Wash may of gotten away with something on there very last basket, but i'm not sure. I think it is illegal to grab the net when the ball is on the cylinder. That ball was bouncing around up there and some wizard snagged the net.
I think that is illegal, but i am not sure. Not that it should have been called, jsut that it could have been.
