5th place with 2nd place record
So, if you look at the standings today, you will find the Rockets in 5th place. That's 5th place, with the 2nd best record. Now, San Antonio has tie braker over them for divisional play. At least, that's what I'm assuming cause Houston has the better Conference play and they are 2-2 against each other.
So, why aren't they at least 3rd with the 2nd best record? Thats because the Lakers and Jazz are gauranteed a top 4 seed. Of course, we all knew that. But I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is the first time EVAR that the top 3 teams have come from the same division. Now, they changed the rules before because the Southwest division had the top 2 teams. Think they'll change it again, cause dammit, having the top 2 teams wasn't good enough for the SW. They had to go and F things up.
Rookie of the Year
Who deserves this title? Really. Who? What does it mean to be rookie of the year? Does it mean that you are gonna be awesome a few years down the road? Is it a prediciton trophy? We think this guy has the most potential, here, have a trophy.
Or, is it the guy who has made the biggest impact on a team with the best play. Is it the rookie playing the best ball, THIS year.
If its the first, then it should be Durant. Cause that guy is gonna be good. Gonna be. Not is. Cause he really isn't that good. I've started watching Seattle games recently, cause I wanted to know if he deserved all this hype. Yea, that display against Denver was great, but actually he wasn't even the best Sonic that game.
Call me a homer, cause I am, but Scola is player better ball, having a bigger impact, with less minutes, on a better team than any other rookie.

this is what i just got out of this post (and for those who missed it, shasher's comment on the last post):
blah blah rockets blah scola blah blah rookies blah IF THE EAST WINS, I WILL TAKE A BITE OUT OF A LIVE FISH AT BOYS CLUB.
so now, of course, i'm praying that the spurs team plane collides with Utah's and they both crash into the staples center while the hornets are playing there.
i didn't think it was possible, but look what you've reduced me to, shasher. i have become what i most despise. and i gotta tell ya, saying that i'm rooting for the east leaves an awful taste in my mouth. tastes almost like a live fish :)
"Yea, that display against Denver was great, but actually he wasn't even the best Sonic that game."
Wasn't even the best rookie. Jeff Green is a rookie too. He had 35 points, 10 rebounds that game. Not that i support the "If one guy did better your game wasn't good" theory.
Alright i do not really disagree with you; i think Scola is a good ROY choice, i don't really have a prefernece this year. Also, I was just looking at different PF stat rankings last night, and Carl Laundrey(sp?) was all over them. thats all league PF stats, not just rookie stats.
But i do got a couple counter points for Durant. Since you really think he is not good.
I think it is easier to look good playing with a great team vs. an awful team. You pointed out how scola contributes for a "good" team, implying, it seems to me, as though that makes one better. If houston drafted Durant and Scola was left to try and single-handedly carry the Sups, I venture that maybe he would look a bit sloppier too.
I think Durant would look a bit more under control if he played for houston. He would have a lot less jobs to do on the court and he could just focus on being a role-player like Scola.
Really i think Durant looks great. He has a sweet jumper, he slashes really well, good fundamentals all around I think.
I'm not sure Scola has a bigger impact. But it is kinda tricky to compare. I can't say without Durant SEA would suck, because they already do suck. But they definatley are dependent upon him for any success. Whereas, Houston has a lot of excellent players, a deep bench, and would still probably be good without Scola. They are still good after losing Yao, and that says a lot. You think Seattle is bad now, if they lost Durant they would be below Miami in standings.
Scola is a better decision maker at this point. Very well could be a better ROY than Durant. I just think you cut him short when you say he is not even good. I am not good. Damon Jones is not good. Darko Milicec is not good.
Woa, I didn't say he wasn't good. I just said he wasn't that good. Like, he's not as good as people even thought he would be.
I can easily say that Scola is having a big impact on the Rockets cause the numbers back me up. 34-5 since he's been a starter. Thats nuts.
Also, the rockets weren't playing with a single star last night. No Yao, no Tracy, not even Battier. And they fucking trounced them. And Scola was probably the best player on the court. By that, I mean that he was play awesome D, running the break, and just getting to loose balls a guy of his size shouldn't be able to get to. Winning without Yao wouldn't be happening if it weren't for Scola.
When I say Durant isn't that good, I mean he looks like a rookie. He's very shakey, and can be taken out of his game easily.
Scola isn't really a rookie, and thats why he doesn't look like one. But even Landry looks more comfortable out there than Durant.
bwah haha
I am not good. Damon Jones is not good. Darko Milicec is not good.
tom you crack me up
Word. That was some funny junk.
Glad to entertain. And frankly, I love the sound of my own voice (figuratively speaking).
Sorry bud, but you did say he is not good. I got it right here.
"Cause that guy is gonna be good. Gonna be. Not is."
Doesn't get much more clear than that, heheh.

God i am so pumped about the playoffs. though i am every year. But still, i am salivating a mess. I get really anxious for the start these last couple weeks.
I'm gonna watch a lot of that Denver-Goldenstate game tonight. That is kinda of a winner advances situation, eh.
You should look at those PF stats so you can fawn over Landry. I was looking at like effeciency and rebound ratings.
I swear at times he is wedged between people like Boozer, Gasol, Jamison.
Im goin for three in a row! btw, you convinced me, i think. I said i didn't have a preference, but i was kinda thinking al horford as my pick. But after hearing you, and then looking at diff numbers of Scola's, you are right, he is ROY. Among other stuff, he gets more of everything in less time than Horford.
Why is Houston never on TV?
I'm glad you agree. I hope he gets it.
I would say the media hates on Houston. I mean, they won 22 in a row, and they still haven't made one of those comercials that says,
"Where 22 in a row happens"
they should make one with a picture of you taking a bite out a live fish at boys club and it says
"where gross happens"
seriously that shit is gonna be gross
Anyone know if they they set the entire year's tv schedule preseason?
I get that feeling, because Miami and Chicago are on national TV all the time.
