age old question, where do you guys weigh in?
you get to pick first, out of all the dudes in the NBA. who do you pick?
all this talk of MVPs has me thinking... who would i rather have to build a team around? could i pick cp or bron instead of yao or d howard? jesus what about kobe? how can you NOT pick him? i dunno
i think i'd go CP. if i gotta pick one, i guess i'll take the PG. strange, i think bron and kobe may be better athletes/dunkers/monsters but i think i'd have to go with either Yaoward or CP just cause i think their positions are more critical. i dunno. for me it's a really hard question, and i'm eager to hear your thoughts.
ps don't forget about ray allen.

This is a real tough one. My first instinct is to get a big man to build around, but the more I think about it, the more I want a good point guard to run an offense. With a good pg, you can go big or small. While with a good big man, you're kinda stuck going big.
1. Paul
2. Bryant
3. Yao
Maybe Iverson too. I haven't forgotten about him.
ray allen? I'm confused. He is great, but he is so far from the conversation of what ONE player i would chose to build a team around.
And i been riding iverson's jock since b4 i could carry it. But i am not building my team around a guy that old, even if he is not aging-which seems to be the case.
"Stuck going big." I am not sure i believe in such a thing. Not in basketball anyway. Small ball has its advantages, but i am not a big proponent of having it be the basis for one's offense. I like it as a situational strat. I am old school like that.
I think as a general rule i would be concerned with my big b4 my pg even..i think.
That said, i would not pick Dwight or Yao first. Because, as big as they are, CP, kobe, and lebron are just way more talented basketball players. Dwight seems kinda far from that killer instinct that CP, kobe, and lebron (a lot more so this year for lebron, imo) has.
I don't take Kobe first. I may regret it, but he is not the type of personality that goes with the teams i tend to like. Wouldn't it be wierd if he played on a team like SA. SA is just so professional and a everyone seems like a real down to earth person. Kobe is definately a player for a city like LA and not Detroit. I hope this makes sense, hard for me to explain it exactly.
So CP3 and Bron. There are about infintity reasons to start your team either one. But if i must choose, I am saying CP3. On the sole basis that i like him better, as a dude. CP3 has one less tattoo that reads "Choosen One" than Lebron.
I'm sorry but even if you are indeed the choosen one, that tattoo is completely asinine.
This is easy:
1. Chris Paul
2. LeBron
3. Dwight Howard
Everyone else is too old (or too worn) already to "begin building a team around" including Kobe.
Kobe is not too worn out for me. I didn't mean for that to sound sexual.
If i was -really- creating a team, but, I did not know at all who i would get as the cornerstone to the team, then found out it was gonna be Kobe. i would thank all my lucky stars and gods and squeal with joy at with my incredible fortune.
He is 28 or 29? I would think he is the kinda player who could be as good at 35 as he is now, maybe better. I am not sure really what age super-atheletes become worndown. I would think 35 is safe though.
If you "begin building a team", how many years down the road are you looking to BE a successful team. Are you aiming to get good 8-10 years after you start? Or within 5-7? For me thinking today about winning a decade from now is tooooo long. You can't worry about how good a player you get will be in 10 years.
