dang

the celtics really smashed phx last night. don't know if any of you guys caught that game, but i have a few comments about it...

1)even though they appear to suck REALLY bad (especially last night), watching them still scares me. i'm pretty sure amare is back to 100%, maybe 110. last few games i've seen him in, he's been looking incredible. of course the shaq thing is still a huge IF for me, but the potential upside is ridiculous. IF they pull their $hit together, i still think they will smash everyone.

2)for the first time this season, i was really impressed with BOS. not just KG, but the whole team was playing GREAT defense and it seemed like nobody could miss a shot (not like they were really being defended, but still :). i've seen them do well, and i've seen KG go bonkers occasionally, but last night the whole team was on FIRE. i still wouldn't bet on them beating a healthy west champ BUT i felt that after watching that game, they really deserve some props. they all played some fantastic defense.

a while ago, tom mentioned that he liked the Cs chances cause KG was so hungry/excited about winning and it would rub off on his team. i felt like last night, this was exactly the case. i really felt like he led them to that victory and to that killer mindset they were in.

this post was going to be : Dang
KG good

but then i started rambling

yeah - I'm kinda pissed about the C's. I've convinced myself, without even really thinking about it much, that this is their year and the only two teams that have a chance to take'm in 7 are DET & SAN. Whoever is playing best at this point in the season has to be the favorite and, in my mind, they're easily playing the most consistent, focused, b-ball of anyone. They're healthy and have everything rolling right when a champion needs it to.

As for PHX... they may have better luck next yr w/ Shaq but I'm pretty sure they're not making it out of the first round. I think they can take DAL but would have a hard time with most others including DEN (who I think has better than 55/45 chance of knocking DAL out which is a whole other post…). It's so close in the west that we still can't reasonably figure out playoff match ups yet but I do know that I'm pulling for the Lakers to play (in order): DAL, PHX, (DEN,) NOL, HOU, UTA, GSW, SAN. So… because of the whole matchups perspective, I guess that’s the reverse power rankings (from a Lakers fan perspective at least). It’s hard to place where I’d drop LAL depending on whether Bynum can easily be worked back in. I say ‘no’ so I’d have to stick’em on top of GSW (think they could beat everyone to left, get beat by the team on their right, and don’t have a clue about what would happen in a GSW series), which brings me to…

Crazy that of all of those teams, I'm scared shitless of Nellie's team second only to Manu’s crew (and yes, it’s his team this year… from the bench, he’s still leading the Spurs in scoring [barely]). Return from tangent; BDavis & CapnJack got me all anxious. Maybe they just match up really well w/ the Lakers but... here it comes... crazy prediction... they are the only legit darkhorse in my mind right now. Nobody givin' them a chance but if (big IF) San Antonio and Utah actually get knocked out before either plays GSW... they could win the championship. They have the same shit kickin' that the C's do right now... except they're insane. They're like Bizarro-Superman... except that they're the Bizarro-Celtics. They're healthy and they just seem to be playing superbly when they draw a good opponent.

They some fearless, cold-hearted fools. I'm just hoping someone else draws'em in the first round.

If they don't win the championship, my prediction is that they start beating up random people at a Salt Lake City game which escalates into an arena riot and spreads throughout all of Salt Lake City. It'll be taught to American children for the next 500 years and referred to as the Salt Ball because after SLC becomes the site of the worst rioting the US has ever experienced it evolves over the following weeks into a Morman revolution led by Mitt Romney in which they declare independence and sign a treaty with Castro-B, outlawing basketball in their new nation as an immoral act of loons and buffoons. They’re national sport: easter “egg” hunting… with 16-yr old girls hidden in fields for the polygamists to find.
